The worst place for a typo

By | December 28, 2011

Today I realized all the resumes I have sent out have a typo on them.

Instead of “incorporating” something, I “incorpated” it. I didn’t notice because I have spell-check turned off in Pages. Yeah, yeah, I know. But my resume includes so many “non-words” like “Tumblr” and “infographics” that I get distracted by all the red lines.

Hopefully, if I overlooked the typo in my 29,582,341,394,324 perusals and revisions, the recipients missed it too. If they didn’t miss it, I hope they’ll have mercy on me. Because a resume touting one’s writing and communication skills is a very embarrassing place for such an error.

Ever had a typo in a resume? Did you get the job, or was it a dealbreaker?

Well…I recently noticed that one copy/version of my resume says that I utilized “invention” strategies instead of ” intervention” strategies. Doesn’t really mean much to those non-education reading resume people but might have cost me in some key positions. Just can’t remember who got that version;)
